At Muru Mittigar, we are proud to operate the largest Indigenous-run native seed bank in New South Wales. Our Native Nursery and Seed Bank plays a vital role in supporting ecological restoration and land management projects across the Cumberland Plain, Blue Mountains and Greater Sydney regions.

Local, Sustainable Seed Collection

Whenever possible, seeds are collected from vegetation located as close as possible to the intended planting site. This ensures local provenance, maintaining the genetic integrity of plant populations and increasing the success of restoration projects.

Muru Mittigar holds a 132C Scientific Licence, enabling our qualified team to collect seeds from various properties with the permission of landholders. This allows us to support large-scale environmental projects while respecting land access protocols.

All seed collection, processing, and storage are conducted in accordance with Florabank guidelines, ensuring sustainable and ethical practices. Our team carefully manages each stage of the process to maximise seed viability and support the long-term success of rehabilitation projects.
