Put aside the conventional plants this upcoming Christmas season — why not introduce a range of native plants into your living space. These natives are perfect for the focal point of any living space or large room. 1. Sturt’s Desert Pea

Bold and bright — Sturt’s desert pea is well-suited to pots. Ensure to plant in a free-draining potting mix and feed regularly to produce flowers.

2. Bottlebrush

Fresh cut Bottlebrush is great for centrepiece arrangements or a potted gift.

3. Callitris Pine

Featuring dark green foliage and the classic pine tree shape. This plant grows well in areas with low rainfall and rocky soil — making it the perfect ‘Aussie Christmas tree’. Alternatively for indoors, plant in a pot.

4. Woolly Bush

This plant has silvery foliage and grows well in a pot — it can also be trimmed to mimic a classic pine shape.

5. Holly-leaf Grevillea

Known as ‘native holly’ — this plant is perfect in Christmas wreaths and table decor as an alternative to European holly.

6. Christmas Bush
The NSW Christmas bush features a bright mass of red flowers — perfect for offcuts to pop into a vase or simply plant in the garden as an ornamental.
