Moore Park East – Kippax Lake Landscape Works Reaches Completion

Over the past month, our Caring for Country team has been hard at work delivering the Moore Park East – Kippax Lake Landscape Works project for Greater Sydney Parklands. Located in the heart of Sydney, just opposite Sydney Football Stadium (Allianz Stadium), the project involved the supply and installation of both soft and hard landscaping elements, transforming key areas of the park and helping to create a greener and more welcoming space for the community to enjoy.

Drawing on the expertise of our Country team, the project showcased Muru Mittigar’s capability in landscape construction, native planting, horticulture and public space management. As an Aboriginal Dharug-led organisation operating since 1998, we were pleased to bring together our qualified horticulturalists, experienced landscape crews, arborists and nursery specialists to deliver a high-quality outcome for the community.

The works required careful planning and coordination within an active public park environment. Key considerations included protecting existing trees, managing public access, undertaking soil amelioration works, installing irrigation infrastructure and delivering extensive planting programs across the site. The project also required ongoing collaboration with the client and landscape consultants to ensure all quality assurance processes, inspections and hold points were successfully achieved throughout construction.

A significant feature of the project was the focus on establishing healthy, resilient planting areas. This involved detailed soil preparation, weed management, mulching, irrigation installation and the careful coordination of plant supply and inspection processes. These measures are designed to support the long-term success of the landscape and ensure the site continues to thrive for years to come.

The project officially reached completion last Friday. Under the contract arrangements, Muru Mittigar will continue to support the site through ongoing plant maintenance and establishment activities, helping ensure the landscape matures as intended and remains a valuable asset for park visitors.

This project reflects Muru Mittigar’s commitment to delivering quality landscape outcomes while creating opportunities through Indigenous employment, skills development and social procurement. We thank Greater Sydney Parklands for the opportunity to contribute to this important public space and look forward to seeing the landscape continue to grow and flourish in the years ahead.
