Moluccana Provenance Nursery is part of Muru Mittigar Aboriginal Cultural and Education Centre, an indigenous, not for profit business based at Penrith Lakes in Cranbrook near the venue for the Sydney Olympics 2000 rowing and canoeing events. Moluccana Provenance Nursery Inc - specialising in growing indigenous native provenance stock in forestry tubes - trees, shrubs, climbers and grasses. Approximately half of the plants produced are utilised specifically for the rehabilitation and restoration projects within the working quarry at Penrith Lakes. Muru Mittigar Ltd endeavours to employ and train local indiginous people. Staff training is integral to the success of the Muru Mittigar Ltd with all staff having expertise in seed collection, propagation, bush regeneration, traditional plant usage and training. Achieving accreditation in 2002 was the catalyst to changing the business focus. NIASA has given the business credibilitiy with some of their new and larger customers and assisted in driving continual improvements in staff knowledge, nursery hygiene, crop production systems and site management.
