Learn how to identify traditional plants and wildlife, and use traditional and modern ingredients to make a ‘johnnycake’. Then sit down to some well-earned tucker! This is a fun and engaging activity for all the family.

Enjoy the following activities during this program:

  • hear stories told by our guides that  have been passed along by Darug elders
  • search for bush tucker plants around a section of Rouse Hill House and Farm
  • feel, smell and taste native edible plants such as sandpaper figs, banksias and melaleuca
  • knead your own traditional ‘Johnny cake’ mix before baking on the open coals
  • enjoy your bush tucker!
