Tuesday 10th January:

Bubberah

Before playing the game children will be given a small boomerang history talk and be taught how to throw the boomerang correctly.
Bubberah is a game about come-back boomerang throwing. The boomerang that returns closest wins a prize.

Totem Relays

This is a game where the children will be split in two teams and verse each other in a relay. Each runner will have to act as an indigenous Totem animal (For example: First race children will need to jump like a kangaroo to the finish line, second race will need to strut like an emu to the finish line) Culture teachers are to pick 4 indigenous totems and demonstrate to children how to act it out before playing the game.

Bush tucker


Children will do a small bush tucker walk on the way up to their taste testing / sausage sizzle lunch.

Lunch

There will be a sausage-sizzle lunch with a choice of kangaroo sausage / emu meat to taste test.

 


 

Thursday 12th January:

Aboriginal Art Class & Face Painting 


Children will participate in an Aboriginal Art class with Uncle John Boney where they will be taught how to paint Aboriginal symbols, Children will be asked to paint a short dreamtime story using these symbols and have the option to have their face painted with ochre paint at the end of the class. Children will be able to take home with them their painting and the best artwork will win a prize.

Aboriginal Song & Dance

Children will be taught an Aboriginal song and dance and will perform what they learn in front of parents before lunch. (This activity includes didgeridoo and clapsticks)

Lunch

There will be a sausage-sizzle lunch with a choice of kangaroo sausage / emu meat to taste test.

 


 

Tuesday 17th January:

Damper and Jam Making

Children will be given a small talk about what damper is and be taught how to cook their own damper, which they will be able to eat it at the end of the class. This activity includes jams and cream if the children wish to add onto their damper.

Aboriginal Song

Children will be given a small talk on how important song was to Aboriginal people, they will be given a didgeridoo performance and be taught how to make sounds with clapsticks and male children will be shown how to make sounds using the Didgeridoo.

Dream Time Stories

Culture Educators will tell children a Dreamtime Story to finish of a deadly day.

Lunch

There will be a sausage-sizzle lunch with a choice of kangaroo sausage / emu meat to taste test.

Children will be given a short didge and dance performance by our very own culture team.
